At Aylesham Community Trust, we’re proud to be part of the Real Living Wage movement – a growing network of over 16,000 UK employers committed to paying wages that reflect the true cost of living.
As the cost of essentials continues to rise, the Real Living Wage remains the only UK wage rate independently calculated to ensure workers can live with dignity, stability, and security. It’s more than a number, it’s a lifeline.
Despite economic pressures, ACT stands firm in its commitment to fair pay. We know that 4.5 million workers in Britain still earn below the Real Living Wage, with many forced to skip meals, use foodbanks, or take out payday loans. That’s why we choose to do better.By
paying the Real Living Wage, ACT helps our team afford the basics—like food, heating, and school uniforms—and even save for emergencies. The difference is real: over £2,400 more per year across the UK, and £5,050 more in London, compared to the government’s minimum.
“I have always felt very strongly about the importance of fair pay. As Chair and as someone who lives in Aylesham I believe that it was really important that the Trust does the right thing. Becoming a Real Living Wage Employer isn’t just about numbers—it’s about valuing people. It means our staff can breathe a little easier, plan for the future, and feel secure. That’s what community is all about.”
