Aylesham Community Trust (ACT) is a local charity based in the rapidly growing village of Aylesham at the heart of the ex-industrial area of the Kent Coal Fields.
We are a Registered Charity and our Charitable Aims include the provision of community services and delivering access to training and employment opportunities. We generate income by renting out spaces and reinvest this money to further our charitable goals. In 2023 our Trustees agreed an ambitious programme of growth and change. Working with trusted partners our plans will help unlock new types of support and opportunities for the people of Aylesham, the surrounding areas and the wider Kent Coalfield.

The Old School Coffee Shop & Kitchen was launched in June 2025. It offers a new social space for the Village to access and use. The project has been delivered with a grant and business loan from the Kent Community Foundation, a grant from the Dover District Council Rural Prosperity Fund and by a generous donation of kitchen equipment from SAGA.
The Old School Coffee Shop and Kitchen is intended to offer a social space to meet and share a drink or food during the week and a place that could offer families a meal at weekends without having to leave the village.
We have been piloting different menus and opening times in the first three months.
From October 20th 2025 the opening times will be as follows:
Monday: Closed
Tuesday – Friday: 9am – 2.30pm. A full Brunch menu is available including weekly and seasonal specials.
Saturday: Closed
Sunday: 12pm-2.30pm. A Sunday Carvery menu including a regular vegetarian special. Booking is recommended as space is limited and it may not be possible to seat walk-in customers.
