About Us
Aylesham Community Trust (ACT) is a local charity based in the rapidly growing village of Aylesham at the heart of the ex-industrial area of the Kent coalfields.
Charity No. 1050794. Company No. 3114198.
We are a Registered Charity
We are a Registered Charity and our Charitable Aims include the provision of community services and delivering access to training and employment opportunities. We generate income by renting out spaces and reinvest this money to further our charitable goals. In 2023 our Trustees agreed an ambitious programme of growth and change. Working with trusted partners our plans will help unlock new types of support and opportunities for the people of Aylesham, the surrounding areas and the wider Kent Coalfield.
ACT Champions Fair Pay with Real Living Wage Commitment
Aylesham Community Trust (ACT) is proud to be part of the Real Living Wage movement, reaffirming its dedication to fairness, dignity, and economic justice for all employees.
Unlike the government’s minimum wage, the Real Living Wage is independently calculated based on the actual cost of living. By adopting this standard, ACT ensures that every member of its team earns a wage that reflects the true cost of housing, food, and everyday essentials.
This commitment brings real benefits:
- Improved staff wellbeing and morale
- Greater retention and job satisfaction
- Stronger community leadership by example
- Support for local economic resilience
As a community-focused organisation, ACT believes that fair pay is a cornerstone of regeneration and social equity. By paying the Real Living Wage, ACT not only supports its staff but also strengthens the wider coalfield communities it serves.
Our Values
We are a member of Association of Camerados which is an international community and movement that encourages human connection by creating ‘no agenda’ spaces,
Keeping it human
People are at the heart of what we do, and we like to keep things fun and relaxed.
We are inclusive
We welcome and value people from all walks of life and encourage people to mix with those who are different to themselves.
Respectful dialogue
We embrace difference and encourage open and respectful
dialogue. It’s okay to disagree if we do it respectfully.
Empowering by helping each other
We believe everyone has something to offer, even if they are experiencing tough times themselves.
No fixing
Like all good Camerados, we lie somewhere between being a friend and a stranger. We are not here to ‘fix’ people, but to offer support by being present and sometimes alongside.
